About Me

Hi. My name is Jana.

One of my happy places is out hiking and exploring nature.

Many years ago when I got my first dog and then second, my husband and I lived for off leash hikes, boating and walking on the beach. However, I had minimal tools or knowledge on how to make my dogs reliable, so those happy times/places were often laced with stress. Inevitably, one dog would be running off on her own adventures and the other dog was misbehaving towards unfamiliar dogs or humans.

With balanced training I gained the tools, training exercises, and a structured, daily routine that enabled me to effectively communicate with my dogs. We started to clean up bad behaviors/patterns that we had felt stuck in for years (barking, lunging, reactivity, resources guarding, etc). Our days and adventures began to feel less stressful and much more enjoyable!

Fast forward a few more years, and we added tiny humans to the mix. Daily, we practiced coexistence and age appropriate and meaningful interactions between the kids and dogs, as both aged. And after six years of having the kiddos with me, I still find moments that I feel surprised and blessed that I learned and continue to practice this balanced style of training. When the kids are melting down, when we’re running late, when I’m quite frankly overwhelmed on adventures with little ones, our dog is the least of my worries. I’m living proof that this training is worth the investment.

Whether you’re roaming on the beach with the kiddos and dog(s) in tow or trying to keep up with the hustle of everyday life, I want you to live your best life with your dog included. I want to give you and your dog the tools and knowledge to quickly adapt and grow through life’s changes and its unpredictability.
